The Elec reported that Tesla and SpaceX representatives visited booths operated by about 10 South Korean companies at SEMICON West in San Francisco on October 13, 2026, and proposed follow-up discussions for Terafab. The reported activity spans initial inquiries, nondisclosure agreements (NDAs), and exchanges of samples and design information.

What the reported supplier discussions cover

The Elec described different kinds of contact, not a single stage shared by every company. An NDA is an agreement to keep certain shared information confidential. The table summarizes the reported activities:

CompanySupply categoryActivity reported by The Elec
ENF TechnologySemiconductor process materialsReceived a request to introduce materials.
AsflowPiping components and valvesDiscussed possible supply.
GnG IntechWastewater recycling equipmentThree Tesla facilities personnel asked about possible use of its equipment.
BMTValves and fluid-handling componentsDiscussed these products; The Elec also reported that BMT supplies piping components to SpaceX.
KoMiCoSemiconductor cleaning servicesSigned a three-party NDA with Tesla and SpaceX and discussed cleaning for a Texas R&D pilot line.
UnisemEnvironmental equipment, including scrubbersSigned an NDA for discussions about equipment.
Dongjin SemichemThinner and phosphoric acidHad been in talks with Tesla for two to three months about potential supply, including thinner from its Texas plant.
Hanmi SemiconductorThermocompression bondersDiscussed the equipment after SpaceX requested an in-person introduction.
ISCSemiconductor-test socketsExchanged samples and R&D design information.

The Elec also lists MiCo among the companies whose booths were visited and identifies KoMiCo as MiCo’s cleaning subsidiary. Its account assigns the NDA and cleaning-service discussions to KoMiCo. Separately, The Elec says at least one company in the initial-contact group received an NDA by email on the evening of its booth visit, but does not identify the recipient.

These stages describe inquiries, confidential discussions, and technical exchanges. They do not, by themselves, amount to a production-supply contract. The Elec’s descriptions of the companies in the table focus on those reported activities.

Terafab’s planned chip project

Watch Tesla’s March 21, 2026 announcement introducing Terafab as a planned chip-production effort with SpaceX and xAI

Terafab is a planned semiconductor-manufacturing project that Tesla, SpaceX, and xAI announced they would pursue in March 2026. Tesla’s announcement framed it as an effort to expand chip production. The supplier discussions reported by The Elec took place later, during SEMICON West, which ran October 13–15 in San Francisco.

NeoTeo previously covered reported Terafab-TSMC talks. The South Korean supplier outreach is a separate development.
