From Godzilla to Nausicaä, passing through Metal Gear, Gundam, Evangelion, and other darker projects, Yoshiyuki Takani's art visited each of those universes, leaving behind images of impressive quality that his followers digitized to better withstand the passage of time. And they have: if you plan to start drawing mechas, Takani's illustrations are essentially study material.
Born in December 1935, Yoshiyuki Takani always had a certain preference for military work, and when he isn't drawing robots, he's most likely working on tanks. Besides appearing in series and video games, his art has been used on products such as the resin Gundam kits, official toys, and promotional posters. Fans of the Metal Gear saga remember him well for his work on the cover of Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, and for the extra material included in the premium editions of Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Below is a humble selection of his work.
