Most YouTubers do a solid job with their benchmarking sessions. Gamers Nexus and Hardware Unboxed keep an excellent level of quality in that regard, but there's a small catch—or rather, a necessity in their methodology that doesn't fully benefit the end user. When they test graphics cards, they have to use the most powerful CPU they can get their hands on (say, a Core i9-9900K) to avoid bottlenecks and add an extra layer of precision to each GPU's numbers.

The opposite happens when benchmarking CPUs, and test benches often feature a 1,300-euro GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. That's not realistic for the budget-conscious builder, but we can't exactly demand benchmarks for every CPU paired with every graphics card out there... or can we?

With a couple of tweaks, Resident Evil 2's performance improves a lot

To be honest, the TechEpiphany YouTube channel comes pretty close to that goal. Anyone looking for the best graphics card benchmarks without voice-overs or background commentary should check out the videos posted there. Pure MSI Afterburner and technical specs, nothing else. The person behind it is, for lack of a better description, a machine. A quiet day means four or five videos, and I've seen him publish a dozen benchmarks in under 24 hours.

The best way to study his results is through playlists. Say you're interested in Electronic Arts' latest battle royale hit, Apex Legends. His list includes benchmarks ranging from FM2+ APUs to Nvidia's RTX series, passing through Intel integrated graphics, cards popular on the second-hand market, some classics, and platforms with special conditions. That last category includes Ryzen Mobile, tuned with a modified version of Ryzen Master.

As expected, Metro Exodus puts a lot of pressure on low-mid end boards

Recently, TechEpiphany has focused on AAA titles like Metro Exodus and the Resident Evil 2 remake, but it tends to favor more affordable hardware. In short, it can get hard to keep up with so many videos, but I think TechEpiphany's benchmarks are a bit more real for the end user, thanks to that impressive mix of low and mid-end hardware.
