The National Geographic concluded the 2018 edition of its renowned photo contest, and we already have the winners. All images were divided into three different categories—Places, Wildlife, and People—with several honorable mentions and the ever-present public selection. I admit it would be very difficult for me to place one of these photographs above the rest, but the jury has done an excellent job, and the People’s Choice for the three categories is truly great. Naturally, this is just a selection of images, highlighting the winners of each section and the most relevant examples from the People’s Choice. Some of the photos are not available for download (I imagine due to rights issues), but in general nothing prevents you from obtaining copies and using them as wallpapers on desktops, tablets, and smartphones. What about the prizes? The grand winner took home $5,000, and his photo will be published on the NatGeo Instagram account, while the winners, runners-up, and third-place finishers in each category received $2,500, $1,500, and $750 respectively. Do you think they deserve it? Leave a comment, and feel free to visit the official page.
