Public restrooms often send a shiver down your spine for obvious reasons, but there are exceptions out there with good hygiene, solid maintenance, and very distinctive architecture. That last point has been explored thoroughly in Japan, where public toilets take the form of giant fruits, benches, castles, churches, trains, pencils, logs, and just about anything else their designers can imagine.
Then again, we're not all that surprised. After all, Japan is the land of smart toilets with built-in lights, music, adjustable water pressure, and warm air.
