Paganism, rituals, the call to powers we cannot understand... there is much to explore in the millennia before the adoption of Christianity among the Slavic peoples. It would be fantastic if someone with deeper knowledge developed new material at the level of series or films, but today we are going to share the work of Polish photographer Marcin Nagraba under his project “Pagan Poetry”. Personally, I have never seen anything like this before, and some of the images will definitely take you by surprise.
They captivate, intimidate, even scare a little, but they leave us wanting more. The images of Marcin Nagraba reveal a side of Slavic mythology (and its culture in general) that is not entirely known to the Western world. The impressive costumes were created by Agnieszka Osipa, and as far as we have been able to verify, the old woman appearing in the photos is Marcin's mother, perfect for the role. If you want to see more of this particular style, you can visit Marcin's official page or his Facebook profile, while Agnieszka Osipa has an Instagram account full of her extravagant creations. Enjoy!
