There's no point in denying it: some artists aim straight for our guts. Stomachs clench and gazes dart elsewhere, only to inevitably return to the source. Maxim Verehin fits that description perfectly, with his fundamental horrors, twisted and horrible things, scenes that laugh at taboos, and famous characters adopting grotesque styles. In fact, Verehin has paid special attention to the Simpson family, and one can't help but wonder: what would an episode with such designs be like?
One of the strangest things about The Simpsons that comes to mind (after their realistic versions, of course) is the "couch gag" done by Don Hertzfeldt. You might remember it: Homer travels so far into the future that all the characters turn into horrible aliens, repeating nonsense. Another especially disturbing one was by Banksy, a spectacular critique of labor exploitation and the abuse of outsourcing to obtain cheaper labor (not to say "slave").
But there is much more to explore outside animation, and our first stop is Maxim Verehin. His "version" of the Simpson family is chilling, but we definitely recommend seeing the rest of his work, both on Instagram and on ArtStation. Something tells me you're going to like it...
