The return of one of the great fighting games is coming back with full force. The fourteenth installment of KOF is about to debut on PlayStation 4, and SNK Playmore has shared a trailer for The King of Fighters XIV featuring a new character alongside several familiar faces.
The King of Fighters XIII repaired the mistakes of the past by deepening the gameplay of 2D fighting. Now it's The King of Fighters XIV's turn to evolve these concepts for the current generation. Over the past few months, SNK Playmore has been gradually revealing the roster through various videos. Classic characters from the franchise such as Kyo Kusanagi, Iori Yagami, K', Benimaru Nikaido, and Robert Garcia are present in The King of Fighters XIV, as you can see in the following trailer:
In this trailer of The King of Fighters XIV, we'll see the return of old characters like Terry Bogard, Clark Still, and Maxima, along with a new fighter named King of Dinosaurs. As for character design, Terry looks just like he did in Fatal Fury, with his red and white trucker cap and jacket with a white star on the back. Clark appears to have taken off the vest he wore in Ikari Warriors and Metal Slug. Maxima is still wearing his silver and blue suit. King of Dinosaurs, however, wears a red raptor mask, feathers, furs, and boots with claws.
New stages and details
In addition to the four new characters, two new stages were revealed in The King of Fighters XIV. One is an abandoned church inspired by K', and the other is the Guanajuato Dynamite Ring, inspired by Mexico. The game will include a total of fifty fighters, 3D graphics while keeping the classic 2D gameplay, with team battles of three fighters, online multiplayer, and a new story arc. The King of Fighters XIV is being developed by SNK Playmore and will be exclusive to PlayStation 4. The game does not have a concrete release date yet, but it is expected to launch sometime in 2016.
