Thirteen years after the end of the last season of The X-Files, Fox surprises all series fans with great news: the return of The X-Files. Mulder and Scully are back in the arena once more, and here we tell you everything.
The X-Files phenomenon
Without a doubt, The X-Files is the cult series of the nineties par excellence. Premiered in 1993 on Fox, over its nine seasons we followed FBI special agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully as they investigated inexplicable cases, the X-Files, always with answers linked to paranormal phenomena. The success of the series led to two films, The X-Files: Fight the Future (1998) and The X-Files: I Want to Believe (2008), as well as the spin-off The Lone Gunmen, among other products.
The X-Files became a pop culture phenomenon and a worldwide success, as well as one of the longest-running science fiction series on television with 202 episodes broadcast until its end in 2002. But recently something that many fans were waiting for was announced: the return of The X-Files. Dana Walden and Gary Newman, presidents of Fox Television Group, along with Chris Carter, creator and executive producer of the series, gave the good news, marking the transcendental return of the phenomenon that won sixteen Emmy Awards during its career.
What we know about the return
The X-Files will return to Fox as a six-episode miniseries. The plot has not yet been revealed, but we assume the classic episodes about conspiracy theories, the existence of extraterrestrial life, and paranormal events will not be missing. To everyone's joy, stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will reprise their roles as FBI special agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Ten Thirteen Productions, Chris Carter will be the writer of the episodes of The X-Files, which is already scheduled to begin filming in mid-2015. For now, there is no estimated premiere date.
