Every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings… or at least, that's what the saying goes. In the multiverse of the SCP Foundation, the truth is far more disturbing. You see, the last thing you want to do is to let an angel earn its wings. In fact, the essential recommendation, for your safety and that of the entire planet, is to stay away from them and make no noise. No noise at all. SCP-469 is one of the most chilling creatures the Foundation has ever contained, and today we're going to find out why.
Angels: Good or Bad?
Angels. Representatives of good, or agents of chaos and destruction? The SCP Foundation isn't so sure. In fact, many officials believe there is no real difference between the two. Some rumors say one of the primordial SCPs is a giant angel, armed with a sword that can destroy everything. Of course, spreading rumors inside the Foundation is very risky and has consequences so horrifying that death is usually the most merciful option, but even the threat of an ominous fate hasn't erased them entirely. Now... SCP-469 is no rumor. It is there, its appetite is terrible, and it must be destroyed.
What Is SCP-469?
The Foundation's files contain no data on SCP-469's origin. At first glance, it is a giant pile of white feathers, almost nine meters in diameter, but they are not the product of an accident; they belong to a series of intertwined wings. Some are small, just a few centimeters long, and others extend several meters. The wings are attached to the back of a being at the center. Its shape is humanoid and it remains in a fetal position. The only sustenance of SCP-469 is sound. Any sound. All the energy it obtains this way is used to create new wings, each one larger. Those who must enter SCP-469's chamber are required to wear equipment specially designed to isolate bodily sounds and to communicate via text or gestures.
Its Diet of Sound
Through multiple tests, officials demonstrated that SCP-469 has a certain preference for rhythmic and musical sounds. The louder and more frequent they are, the faster its wings grow, but as I mentioned earlier, it can use any sound. This advantage reveals SCP-469's disturbing nature. No one, under any circumstances, should touch its feathers directly or get too close to them, or they will be captured and wrapped in SCP-469's wings. Its appearance is soft and smooth, but its filaments behave like needles, piercing clothing and entering flesh. The feathers release a neurotoxin that triggers every nerve receptor in the body and injects stimulants to keep its prey awake. Its goal is chilling: SCP-469 wants its victims to scream in pain, terror, and despair. That is its food.
How Do You Destroy It?
All attempts to eliminate SCP-469 have failed. Flamethrowers and fire make too much noise, which the creature absorbs to generate new wings faster than it loses them. Any plan based on drilling or cutting requires working near SCP-469, and that has already cost the lives of two agents. The SCP Foundation continues to evaluate methods that guarantee the complete destruction of SCP-469, but at the same time, it cannot suppress its curiosity. In one of its experiments, they rang a bell in front of the 'angel'. SCP-469 spread its wings and woke up. What happened next was so horrible... that those responsible buried it in the deepest part of the Foundation.
