The Verge reported that within less than an hour of U.S. preorders opening on Oct. 16, 2026, Apple’s online store showed late-January 2027 delivery estimates for every iPhone Duo configuration. Online preorders were still possible at the time, according to The Verge’s report.
Apple announced the iPhone Duo as its first foldable iPhone on Sept. 9 and scheduled U.S. availability to begin Oct. 23. Apple’s announcement set the preorder and availability dates. For background on the device, see NeoTeo’s earlier coverage of the iPhone Duo’s hinge and foldable display.
Could pickup offer an earlier chance?
Apple’s Oct. 15 notice listed home delivery and pickup at a local Apple Store. The Verge said Apple typically reserves some units for stores, which could give a buyer an earlier opportunity; that possibility did not guarantee stock at any particular location.
What Apple’s Get Ready setup did
Apple said buyers could configure the iPhone Duo and save their choices for faster checkout. MacObserver reported that this preparation did not reserve a phone or guarantee delivery by Oct. 23.
