If you enjoyed the Terminator Salvation and Aliens Armageddon arcade games, then get ready to play one based on your favorite zombie series. Grab the crossbow and prepare to survive in The Walking Dead Arcade, the arcade shooter based on the TV series.
From the creators of Terminator Salvation, Aliens Armageddon, and Jurassic Park Arcade comes a new arcade shooter based on the hit TV series The Walking Dead. Licensed by AMC, The Walking Dead Arcade is a rail shooter similar in theme and genre to the classic The House of the Dead. Thanks to that, the cabinet is themed after the series, and inside it has bench seating and ceiling lights that react and blink according to what's happening on the screen.
But the best part is undoubtedly the weapon: a crossbow, so players can feel like Daryl Dixon when eliminating walkers.
In terms of gameplay, the trailer of The Walking Dead Arcade shows that enemy hordes are much more numerous than what was seen in Terminator Salvation and Aliens Armageddon. The use of other weapons (like hammers or axes) seems to show there are more scripted events to break the monotony of this type of game. The scenarios take place in places seen in the series, like the prison, and you can save other survivors to add points in the game.
Graphically, it seems to have more detail than Jurassic Park Arcade, with colors standing out thanks to the elements and walkers that are in the scenarios.
If we consider that some The Walking Dead games are good (like the adventure games from Telltale Games) and others bad (The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct), we can only wait for this arcade game to go down the right path and give us, at least, a good and fun experience while we eliminate walkers. The Walking Dead Arcade is being developed by Play Mechanix and will be available in arcades starting January 2017.
