The first augmented reality mobile game based on the hit AMC zombie series is coming. Rick and Michonne await you in The Walking Dead: Our World to fight zombies in the real world (augmented reality).
Finnish studio Next Games has just announced that it will release a new augmented reality mobile game based on the hit AMC television series The Walking Dead. Similar to Pokémon Go, The Walking Dead: Our World will let you fight zombies in the real world. But that's not all, as you can battle alongside your favorite characters from the series, including Rick, Daryl, and Michonne. These characters blend into players' real surroundings along with other digital objects you can use in your fight to survive the zombie apocalypse.

Instead, it shows players fighting walkers in places like a store, a hospital, and even a park, defending themselves with various weapons they can grab, from machine guns and grenades to what appears to be Michonne's katana. “Fans love how the series makes you ask yourself, 'What would I do in a zombie apocalypse?' And in this game, we want to let players explore this hypothetical in a way they've never experienced before. Augmented reality allows players to experience the fight for survival in a completely new way in their familiar surroundings,” claims the CEO of Next Games, Teemu Huuhtanen, in a statement.
For its part, AMC says the game “will allow players to fully immerse themselves in the action of the hit television show by mixing digital objects, such as characters and other game elements, with the players' own surroundings”. The Walking Dead: Our World is being developed by Next Games (responsible for the successful mobile strategy game The Walking Dead: No Man's Land) and will be available on the App Store and Google Play, though for now the game doesn't have a specific release date.
