Them & Us: A Return to Classic Survival Horror
Them & Us

A Story of Survival in 1978

Tendogames is an independent team that since 2014 has been working on Them & Us, a survival horror promising to return to the genre's roots. The story takes place in 1978, when a bus accident occurs in a vast American desert. Only one person survives, Alicia, a young woman with a mind marked by tragedy. Alone and wounded, Alicia finds herself in the middle of a series of events she does not understand. She now has to fight for her life while around her, slowly and silently, a deadly and surreal nightmare unfolds as night falls and gives way to the unknown.

Gameplay and Atmosphere

The gameplay of Them & Us is inspired by Resident Evil and Silent Hill, two classic exponents of Japanese horror games. Under Alicia's control, you have to explore Silent Grove cemetery and its surroundings in search of items that can help you survive. In the middle of the night, several zombies come out of their graves to feast on the young woman wandering around. But Alicia won't be defenseless, as she has a small but sharp knife and firearms like a pistol and a shotgun. Obviously, ammunition is not something that abounds in a cemetery, so better shoot when you really think it's necessary.

As any good survival horror, puzzles couldn't be missing; from statues that work as switches to open doors to mysterious stones with strange hieroglyphs that you have to decipher, among many more tests. Technically, the game makes use of Unreal Engine 4, providing an excellent atmosphere and complete immersion when playing a horror game.

And if it's about playing, the demo of Them & Us is already available so you can download it for free through the official site. The demo, though brief (like any demo), develops advanced segments of the plot. Them & Us is being developed by Tendogames and will be available on Windows. For now, the game has no concrete release date.
