In the midst of the “Instagram era”, flesh-and-blood influencers not only have to compete with each other, but now virtual characters join the fight, amassing followers with pure pixels. We previously talked about Miquela Sousa, whose profile is seen and shared by a million and a half people, and today it’s Imma’s turn, a virtual girl who roams the streets of Japan showcasing her style, one selfie at a time.
“Imma” is a name derived from the Japanese word ima, meaning “now”, and from a certain point of view it fits perfectly. Imma’s development is handled by ModelingCafe, best known for its collaboration on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and the film Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV. Imma’s images are rendered and transferred onto a real body in various situations. Depending on the angle and light, it is definitely possible to mistake Imma for a flesh-and-blood model. The illusion breaks a bit with close-ups, but that’s not the point. Imma can only improve over time, and she has three essential advantages: she doesn’t eat, doesn’t sleep, doesn’t age. The model has already appeared on the cover of CGWorld magazine. What’s next for her? If you want to know more, don’t hesitate to visit her profile.
