Today I bring you a dramatic comedy (dramedy, as they call it), for those who are fed up with the horror and fantasy I usually recommend. Red Rocket tells a simple story, written and directed by Sean Baker, the man behind the brilliant The Florida Project from 2017. It’s about a very short period in the life of a washed-up porn actor who, after falling from grace in Los Angeles, returns to his hometown in Texas to nobody’s delight. Like his previous film, it’s a slice of life that shows the idiosyncrasies of that specific region of the US, and the sorrows and joys of its inhabitants. Very good!
