We hope you enjoy the five tools for creating time-lapse and stop motion videos. We'll take a look at simple and powerful video editing and post-production platforms.
Quick Lapse HD
We'll start with Quick Lapse HD, an app that lets you adjust the frames per second (FPS) of your time-lapse videos. The tool takes great images in close-ups such as portraits or wide shots of landscapes, all in HD quality. Quick Lapse HD is a free app available for iOS devices.
MonkeyJam
Next up is MonkeyJam, an app with which you can create stop motion videos (among other effects such as digital penciltest) by capturing images from your webcam or professional video camera. Once your video is finished, you can render it in AVI format to export it to any other application or play it with your media player.
qStopMotion
qStopMotion is a very good tool for creating stop motion movies. You can import images from a camera or locally; the utility offers a wide range of movement effects that will turn your videos into true works of art. qStopMotion is a free application available for Windows and Linux operating systems (and soon for Mac OS X).
SkyStudioPro
SkyStudioPro is an app with which you can create time-lapse videos using a webcam or any capture device. You can also create stop motion videos by taking manual snapshots, and then render the video into a compressed film. SkyStudioPro is a free application available for Windows operating systems.
Dragonframe
We'll finish in style with Dragonframe, a commercial tool for creating stop motion videos. We decided to include it despite not being free because they offer a 30-day trial period (with some restrictions). With this utility you can create professional stop motion videos (it has been used by Tim Burton and Disney Studios). Dragonframe is a commercial application available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux (though it is not available in the trial version).
