Toshiba Information Equipment (Philippines) Inc. (TIP) said on October 2, 2026, that added production lines at Laguna Technopark had begun making nearline hard disk drives (HDDs) and shipped their first drives. TIP targets about twice its fiscal 2025 annual production capacity, measured by storage capacity, in fiscal 2027.

Toshiba starts production on added Philippine lines

Nearline HDDs are hard drives designed for data centers and other high-capacity storage. The Laguna Technopark lines add nearline production to output previously made at Toshiba’s Carmelray Industrial Park facility.

What Toshiba’s fiscal 2027 capacity target means

TIP’s target compares its annual production capacity in fiscal 2027 with its fiscal 2025 level. The measure is storage capacity, so the target describes the total capacity of drives produced over a year.

Reported plans for higher-capacity HDDs

Reported future plans outline several capacity milestones, each with its own timing:

HDD capacity classReported timing
40TB-class, up to 12 disks2027 plan
65TB-classVolume production targeted around 2030
100TB-classPlanned for a later stage
