Many of us remember this excellent first-person shooter that launched just before the holidays in 1998 for the Nintendo 64, later receiving ports to PC and Game Boy Color. Like many classic titles being revisited today, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil is set to appear on Steam starting March 16 for PC users. It will also be available on Humble Store and GOG.
Remastered by Night Dive Studios
Developer Night Dive Studios is handling this remaster, which, in addition to an HD adaptation (based on the trailer, there don't seem to be substantial graphical improvements), will include new worlds, weapons, and a multiplayer mode called Last Turok Standing. Alongside the PC version, there's also an Xbox One version planned, though its release date hasn't been announced yet.
A Classic FPS
Turok 2 is one of the best FPS games of the 90s and would likely make any list of the greatest of all time. The series had more successes than failures, especially on Nintendo 64, counting four entries, with Seeds of Evil being the best alongside Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion. A decade later we got a new version for PS3, PC, and Xbox 360 that, while not a bad game, didn't have what it took to survive against its predecessors (not counting Turok: Evolution).
Remember that Night Dive Studios also delivered a remaster of the first title, and those of us who love Turok hope this developer continues bringing us the rest of the series.
