Ugreen’s Magic E Ink Screen Case adds a full-color electronic-ink panel to the back of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The accessory was reported as available in China on September 16 and 17, 2026, and its central use is personalizing the phone with synchronized photos—not turning the case into a second smartphone display.
Ugreen adds a rear E Ink panel to the iPhone 18 Pro
The case is designed for both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Its large rear panel uses full-color E Ink and can display photos transferred from the iPhone, giving the phone a customizable back surface.
That makes the concept closer to a digital photo frame built into a protective case than to a conventional second display. You can show a favorite picture, artwork or another supported image on the rear panel while the iPhone remains a normal iPhone from the front.
What the Magic E Ink Screen Case actually does
The documented workflow centers on synchronizing photos from the iPhone to the case. A companion app is referenced for that synchronization, although its name and operating-system requirements have not been disclosed.
The case was shown in burgundy and silver. Its design also appears to include raised protection around the camera bar and air-cushioned bumpers at all four corners, combining the display concept with familiar protective-case features.
The rear panel is the headline feature, but its usefulness depends on wanting a persistent image on the back of the phone. This is a personalization accessory first: the supported use described for it is displaying photos.
Its limits: no video or rear-camera viewfinder
The reported functionality does not include video playback. The case also cannot serve as a viewfinder for the iPhone’s rear cameras, so it is not a replacement for the second-screen camera setups found on some specialized phones.
That distinction matters. A full-color E Ink panel may look like a miniature display, but the case’s described role is static photo customization. The available product description does not extend that role to videos, live camera framing, notes or QR-code display.
Design, colors and the other accessories
Ugreen announced the case alongside a separate 45W iPhone charger and a separate screen protector advertised as surviving a drop of up to three meters. Those specifications belong to the charger and screen protector, respectively, rather than to the Magic E Ink Screen Case.
No in-box bundle has been documented for the case. The available product details also do not specify its dimensions, weight, materials, battery capacity, charging method or display resolution.
The reported China availability gives the accessory a real launch context, while its practical identity remains fairly focused: a protective iPhone case with a color E Ink photo panel on the back.
