The Long Wait is Finally Over
How long have we waited for this? We remember it well: The official announcement was made in July 2015. The event suffered multiple delays, and in April the possibility began to circulate that we would finally see some action in August. However, the great battle between the American Eagle Prime and the Japanese Kuratas will be broadcast tomorrow exclusively through Twitch. What will we find there? To begin with, let's say there was a very important change in its organization...
What to Expect from the Fight
Enough doubts. The long-awaited duel between Eagle Prime and Kuratas is a fact. Honestly, there isn't much left to add. The idea is that these giant robots will beat each other, several parts will fly off, and if we see flames or oil leaks in the process, even better. Well... actually that's my wish. Flashbacks of Robot Jox immediately come to mind, and if we set aside certain details (laser rays, crushed stands, and the giant chainsaw-phallus), I think it's not bad to imagine two torn robotic corpses in the arena. Now, everything seems to indicate that the right thing will be to lower the hype considerably. What's the problem?
A Surprising Change of Plans
I don't know if it's worth calling it a 'problem', but it's a change that greatly modifies our vision of the fight. According to available information, the combat already took place at the end of September in Japan, inside an abandoned steel factory. And that's not all: The organizers came to the conclusion that for safety reasons, the fight would be behind closed doors, with the pilots of each robot, and two commentators (Mike Goldberg from MMA and Saura Naderi, an engineer at Qualcomm and robotics expert). The rounds were divided over several days, giving both teams the necessary time to make repairs. A point in favor? The only way to win a round is by knockout.
How and When to Watch
Where, when, and at what time? Twitch, Tuesday October 17 at 7 PM Pacific Time. The magic of time zones tells us it will be at 4 AM on Wednesday 18 in Spain, and between 9 PM and 11 PM on Tuesday for Latin America. Once the broadcast on Twitter ends, the fight will be uploaded to YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.
