To convert Google Drive (originally a cloud file storage) into a public server folder, we only need a few steps.
Steps to Host Your Website on Google Drive
- The first thing you need to do is create a folder in your drive.
- Now right-click on the folder and select Share..., then choose Advanced and select the mode Yes: public on the Web.
- At this point you will need to upload all the files to the created folder (in this case 'Neoteo').
Remember that it only supports HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and images. You cannot host pages with other technologies or CMS (they do not have the database option).
- To get the URL of the web page, right-click on the folder, select Share... and copy the URL.
- As you can see, the site is fully operational. The only problem you will notice is the URL, it is not personalized and friendly for search engine positioning. For that, you can use URL shorteners like Bitly or Google, or use a free domain service like “CO.nr free domain”.
