If you enjoyed Remember Me and Life Is Strange, get ready, because French studio Dontnod Entertainment is preparing a new game for fans of role-playing and vampires. Check out an alpha version with vampires in action in Vampyr.
French studio Dontnod Entertainment has already captivated us with great stories in Remember Me and the graphic adventure Life Is Strange. Its next title is Vampyr, a role-playing game whose plot revolves around Jonathan Reid, a doctor turned vampire whose bloodthirst forces him to kill innocent people. The video shown is an alpha version that shows part of the gameplay in motion. In this adventure you have the possibility of having no obligation to kill anyone to finish the game. Of course, you can ignore that and satisfy Reid's bloodthirst; and for that you have to gather information about his victims, studying and changing their habits, searching for clues, and maintaining certain relationships when communicating with the inhabitants of London.
Each person has different origins, relationships with other characters, and daily routines they follow over the course of the game. In fact, in Vampyr any inhabitant of London can be a potential candidate to satisfy Reid's bloodthirst, although this will have consequences that affect the story. Feeding on human blood, besides providing nourishment, will allow you to unlock new vampiric powers. One of them is the ability to hypnotize to control the behavior of weaker people, such as coercing them to reveal important information or guiding them to less visible areas to feed without resorting to combat.
You can even help injured or sick victims to gain their trust. When fighting, Reid has several melee weapons and long-range weapons that will help you eliminate other vampires, mutant vampires known as Skulls, and the ever-present vampire hunters. You can also upgrade these weapons through a crafting system using different elements from the victims' bodies. Vampyr is being developed by Dontnod Entertainment and will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows. For now the game has no concrete release date but is expected to arrive sometime in 2017.
