Mandariinid (2013) – An anti-war film. At times tender, at times raw. It takes place in 1992, during the war in Georgia, Abkhazia, in which the Abkhaz sought their liberation through arms. In the middle are the Estonians: outsiders to the conflict who had to endure the brutalities of the fight. Ivo and Margus are two of those Estonians who refuse to move from a town trapped in the conflict because they have to harvest their tangerines. Lots of drama, but also lots of human warmth. Highly recommended!
