Argentina has been, according to the world press, "the hottest place on the planet" these past few days. Today it was 41°C in the shade in my city (tomorrow is predicted to be 43°C), and I went out unprotected with my plants in my garden. Result: I got sunstroke. So with a headache and paracetamol, here goes this new edition of the Visual Dump of the Week. It's so dazzling that you might get sunstroke too, screen in hand. Especially since the recommended movie(s) are about bombs and nuclear radiation. Combo! Enjoy!

Film produced by the BBC that tells what would happen in the event of a nuclear war. The first half is a bit dense. It introduces the characters, establishes relationships, provides a timeline of world events that trigger the conflict, etc. When the bombs fall, the film goes from being a drama to existential horror. Pure anguish and good, possible horror. The ending is AGGGGHHHHHH, an unexpected kick in the balls. Totally raw. The best thing is that it's a sort of documentary of what would happen if..., because it tries to be a warning. So at times it reminded me of things like Cannibal Holocaust, except produced by the BBC. Pure shock and bombplotation. I loved it. Ideal for a continuous marathon with When the Wind Blows (1986). If you want more, you can follow with The Day After (1983) and then let me know.
