Today, having a great website isn't enough. Your site also needs to display correctly on all platforms and devices, and it must have a strong presence in the major search engines (SEO). There are several tools to study the competition, but in this case we'll talk about Wappalyzer, an extension that reveals which web technologies your competitors use and what analytics they rely on.
What Does Wappalyzer Detect?
Once you download the extension into your browser from its official website, you'll notice it starts working in the browser's address bar. The application first detects the CMS (or programming language) on which the website is built (WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, etc.) and the technology it uses, such as Apache Server, Google Font API, PHP version, jQuery, and spin.js, among others.
When you click on each service, for example 'Google Adsense', you'll get information about all the pages that use that service (or technology) and a chart showing the application's movement over the last six months.
Why Choose Wappalyzer?
Although there are other excellent extensions for analyzing your competitors on the web, such as SEOquake or SEO for Firefox, which focus on search engine positioning, Wappalyzer stands out for its simplicity, speed, and study of the entire internet. This makes it a great tool for designers, digital marketing, or simply for the curious. Wappalyzer is a free web extension that works in browsers like Chrome, Firefox, and Opera. In our tests, it didn't install in Firefox, but it worked perfectly in Google Chrome.
