A Canadian inventor's record
His name is Catalin Alexandru Duru, a Canadian national. The record he recently conquered is very special to us because it involves a hoverboard. A hoverboard. It's likely someone is shouting hovercraft! but I'm sorry to disappoint you, because I'm not going to change a letter. The Hendo came to us as the first real hoverboard, and if all goes well, the first ten privileged will receive their units in October of this year, almost matching the events of the movie. Now, Catalin Duru is not one of them, but he is an inventor, and he decided to create his own hoverboard variant. At first glance, it's a quadcopter on steroids, powerful enough to lift him five meters into the air. Once the design was finished, he contacted the people at Guinness and did this.
275.9 meters. Five times more than the previous record. The device is noisy, and I imagine controlling it with your feet requires a lot of practice... but who wouldn't like to be in his place? The web has highlighted Duru's posture on the hoverboard, and there was no shortage of comments associating him with the Green Goblin. The new record-man said that his goal was to demonstrate that it is possible to control and maintain a stable flight on a hoverboard only using your feet, and he definitely achieved it. The work on the hoverboard took twelve months, and Guinness representatives indicated that it is 'an incredible achievement' in engineering and transportation.
What's next for Duru? Apparently, his hoverboard can rise much higher, and unlike the hoverboard owned by McFly, it has no surface restrictions. I imagine the limits are more linked to weather.
