Understanding FLS Files
First, let's explain what FLS files are. They inform us about the content of a file (mainly informing the operating system) and with this information we have several data points, one of which is how to open the program or file.
WebESC compares FLS files with a previous scan. If there are changes, it can determine why they occurred. These changes could be due to proper use of the program, or perhaps a virus, or even worse, a hacker. If the change is due to the last two options, the environment will detect it and provide the necessary information so an advanced user can perform the security work. It does not delete them.
Local and Web Modes
In local mode, the utility helps you control changes to files on your computer and devices connected to it (CD, DVD, removable hard drives, and USB devices). In Web mode, it checks changes in the sizes of online files on the web pages you visit, without needing to download them.
As we said at the beginning, the use of WebESC is exclusively for advanced users, because misuse of the platform can seriously affect the proper functioning of the operating system.
