Have you already set up your Christmas tree? Have you bought the presents? Have you sent your Christmas greetings? I haven't, and I don't plan to do any of that, because I like Christmas only to eat my mother's home-cooked food, enjoy delicious desserts at the end, and end up drunk and hugging some stranger on some street corner. What? You say I can't get together with my family or hug strangers? Well, then I'll stay home watching the Visual Dump. Speaking of which, it's possible that next week it will come out earlier, so don't expect it here on Christmas Eve. Either way, enjoy it!

South Korean cinema: you either love it or hate it. There's no middle ground. I like it a lot, despite its feigned sentimentality and Hollywood-style spectacle. My gateway was with The Host, a monster movie from 2006. Then Flu (2013) and Train To Busan (2016) earned my complete sympathy, and the series Kingdom my total loyalty. However, it was with Parasite that it went mainstream. Exit (2019) is the synthesis of South Korean commercial cinema: it has a love story, humor, action, special effects, sentimentality, and an awful lot of spectacle. It's about two people who are left alone in the middle of a city gassed by a terrorist attack and their escape at the height of the skyscrapers. A 100% commercial movie, almost impossible not to like, unless you have some prejudice.
