I won't lie to you. "El Gerente" is, besides being a movie, an advertisement (not even a covert one) for the Argentine company Noblex. It's about the time the brand ran a sensational promotion that saved it from ruin and had the ENTIRE COUNTRY with their hearts in their throats. The promo, which came out for the 2018 World Cup, was simple: Buy a Noblex TV to watch the national team's matches and do it calmly, because if the team doesn't qualify... we'll refund your money! This is the story of the manager who thought up that promo and how his life changed from then on, all in the tone of lighthearted, feel-good comedy. I really liked it, and Leonardo Sbaraglia steals the movie—it's always a pleasure to see him in any role. Highly recommended! Perfect to watch back-to-back with "1985"—an overdose of Argentina in one sitting!
