Business Insider reported on November 1, 2026, that in April the customer-price value of Anthropic’s internal Claude use exceeded monthly employee compensation, excluding stock awards.
What the April comparison measures
The comparison assigns internal AI use a value based on prices Anthropic charges customers, then sets that value against monthly employee compensation. It is a valuation of consumption, not the amount Anthropic paid in cash for AI.
Business Insider attributed the figures to Anthropic’s IPO filing. NeoTeo previously covered the filing in a report on its risks and costs.
What the September figures cover
Business Insider also reported that by September Anthropic’s internal AI use was more than 250 times its January level. That is a relative usage comparison, not a dollar or token total.
Separately, Business Insider said Claude wrote more than 90% of the code added to Anthropic’s software in September. The percentage applies to code added that month, not the company’s entire codebase.
