The Verge’s Cyberpunk 2077 results compare an early GPD WIN 5 prototype with the MSI Claw 8 AI Plus—not the later GPD WIN 5 Ryzen AI Max+ 388 or MSI Claw 8 EX AI+. In Sean Hollister’s article, published October 6, 2025, the higher frame rate shifts with the battery-duration target, and each device uses a different TDP setting. Hollister’s report in The Verge identifies the WIN 5 as an early prototype and says the piece is not a review of the final product.

The Verge also included the Lenovo Legion Go 2 in its wider benchmark tables. The two Cyberpunk battery-duration comparisons below, however, are for the WIN 5 prototype and Claw 8 AI Plus.

Cyberpunk 2077 at two battery-duration targets

For a roughly three-hour session, the Claw 8 AI Plus recorded 60 fps at a 20W TDP setting, with an estimated runtime of 3.2 hours. The WIN 5 prototype recorded 51 fps at 15W TDP, with an estimated runtime of 3.1 hours. At roughly two hours, the prototype reached 87 fps at 25W TDP, while the Claw recorded 76 fps at 30W TDP; the estimated runtime was about 2.1 hours for each.

These are battery-duration comparisons at different processor TDP settings, not matched-TDP results. The faster device changes between the two scenarios, so the figures describe a trade-off within Hollister’s test rather than a single winner across the later models.

The test setup matters, too: the WIN 5 prototype had no battery inside its handheld body and ran from an external 80Wh battery pack. Hollister also reported that the prototype sometimes drew 100W or more at the system level under heavy use. Those details apply to the unit he tested.

What MSI lists for Claw 8 EX AI+ CG3EM-024US

MSI’s U.S. specification page lists the Claw 8 EX AI+ CG3EM-024US with an Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor featuring 14 cores and 14 threads, plus integrated Intel Arc B390 graphics. The listed configuration has 32GB of LPDDR5x memory, a 1TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD, and an 80Wh battery. Its 8-inch touchscreen has a 1920×1200 resolution and a 48–120Hz variable refresh rate. MSI lists two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a Micro SD-Express card reader, and a weight of 1.73 lb with the battery. MSI’s specifications for this SKU note that specifications and availability can vary by model and market.

That specification listing describes the Claw 8 EX AI+ CG3EM-024US; Hollister’s Cyberpunk results concern the different Claw 8 AI Plus and an early WIN 5 prototype.
