On November 5, 2026, WhatsApp announced that people without an account could open an event invitation link, view the details and RSVP without downloading the app. WhatsApp said the updated Events feature would roll out to everyone over the following weeks. (WhatsApp’s announcement)
How account-free event invites work
An organizer can share an event link, and a guest without a WhatsApp account can use it to view the event details and RSVP. RSVP means responding to say whether you plan to attend.
WhatsApp says guests without an account see the event address only after they RSVP. The organizer’s phone number is not shown to guests the organizer does not know.
For guests without WhatsApp, RSVPing is the step that reveals the event address.
What the Events Home adds
WhatsApp announced an Events section at Settings > Events. It brings together past and upcoming events a person created or was invited to, and lets organizers create customized invitations and manage RSVPs. The announced tools also include custom reminders and an option for guests to bring a plus-one.
In its announcement, WhatsApp described personal messages and calls as end-to-end encrypted.
What WhatsApp Events already supported
The account-free invitation is an addition to an existing event feature. In an April 9, 2025 roundup, WhatsApp had already described creating events in group chats and one-to-one conversations, responding “maybe,” inviting a plus-one, adding an end time and pinning an event in a chat. Event invitations and guest-call links have different jobs
An event invitation link lets a guest view event details and RSVP. WhatsApp’s separate guest-call link feature lets people without accounts join a call.
