Apple lists iPhone 16 Plus and iPhone 16 Pro Max for up to 25W MagSafe charging. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro are listed at 22.5W. MagSafe is Apple’s magnetic wireless-charging system; reaching the listed 25W peak calls for specific charging hardware and setup.

What Apple specifies for 25W charging

For iPhone 16 Plus and iPhone 16 Pro Max, Apple specifies a 30W-or-greater power adapter rated at 15V/2.0A or higher, paired with a MagSafe Charger with model number A3502, A3503, A2580, or A3250. Apple’s MagSafe guidance recommends connecting the charger to power before placing the iPhone on it.

If you put the iPhone on the charger first, Apple says to remove it, connect the charger to power, wait three seconds, then place the phone back on the charger.

What the reported Qi2.2 test measured

Techtest reported testing an iPhone 16 Pro Max with a UGREEN MagFlow 2-in-1 Qi2.2 charger, comparing iOS 18 with iOS 26. Its reported time to charge from 5% to 80% was about 1 hour 17 minutes on iOS 18 and 1 hour 5 minutes on iOS 26.

The test logged power going into the charger, not power delivered to the phone. Its timings describe that iPhone 16 Pro Max setup; the separate Apple MagSafe limits above apply to the four models individually.

Why charging power can vary

Apple says actual power varies with the iPhone model, adapter wattage, and system conditions. For all four iPhone 16 models, Apple lists a 7.5W wireless-charging limit when a USB-C or Lightning accessory is connected. If an iPhone is connected to both a MagSafe charger and wired power, it charges through the wired connector.

Apple also says software might limit charging above 80% if the battery becomes too warm.
