Wifinian is a Wi-Fi manager to connect to wireless networks according to their signal strength. The platform runs in the system tray and with a click you can view the signal strength threshold of each network and configure it. You can also customize the tool to automatically connect to the network with the strongest signal. Plus, the platform lets you create a priority list of Wi-Fi networks, manage them, and switch from one signal to another based on the bandwidth being used at that moment.
The program can be downloaded and run in either installable or portable form from the GitHub website or from the Windows Store. It works the same way in every version.
Connecting to the strongest signal
When you run it, you'll see the utility in the system tray. Clicking its icon displays the Wi-Fi profiles on your computer. From there you can select any profile and specify your preferences. To connect to a wireless network based on signal strength, you need to enable the "Auto Connect" and "Auto Switch" options. Otherwise, it won't work.
To connect to a Wi-Fi network based on its signal strength, select the "Engage" option. Next to the word Engage, you'll see a number, which is the signal strength threshold. By default, it's set to "50"; clicking the number will increase it up to 90, and any networks with a signal lower than the Engage value will be disabled.
This way, you can use Wifinian to connect to a wireless network automatically, or to a Wi-Fi network based on signal strength. In our tests we used the portable version and everything worked perfectly.
With Wifinian, you just need to specify a few values and the platform does the work automatically. The built-in Windows Wi-Fi manager often has connection problems when it finds two signals of equal strength and automatically connects to a network you don't want. With Wifinian, you won't have that problem thanks to its configuration modes.
