Windows versions are supposed to come out of Redmond ready to use, but in practice we know that's not the case. Users must spend hours tweaking and customizing settings, changing parameters that are not necessarily easy to reach. Personally, I have always preferred a manual approach when applying tweaks, but the Winaero portal offers its Winaero Tweaker, which concentrates a large number of advanced adjustments and places them a couple of clicks away.
A recurring complaint among advanced users is that many configuration parameters available in the classic Control Panel and other sections of the operating system have no equivalents under the interface of recent Windows.
It's not a matter of stubbornness or belonging to the 'old school': It's the truth. In the name of simplicity, Microsoft made some wrong decisions, forcing users to look for alternatives.
One of those alternatives is Winaero Tweaker, distributed by the famous Winaero portal that shares Windows tweaks. At first glance, it's a kind of super Control Panel, or if you prefer, an even broader version of God Mode, but at the same time it allows you to modify Windows configuration more deeply.
Modifying Windows configuration with Winaero Tweaker
Winaero Tweaker offers a traditional installation or a portable mode that dumps all its files to a temporary folder. The interface has a dropdown list on the left side with 18 categories, ranging from managing favorites to downloading classic Windows applications.
In just the two appearance categories alone, there are about a dozen and a half options to adjust: icon size, menus, scroll bar width, Alt+Tab appearance, theme behavior, sounds, dark mode, and window borders are some of them.
Further on, we find settings for the desktop and taskbar, networks, context menu (very useful for adding shortcuts), privacy, and more.
Want to undo a change? Don't worry, disable the option or press the Reset button, and that's enough.
Planning to reinstall everything and want to modify Windows configuration quickly and easily? Give Winaero Tweaker a try.
