Neowin reported on October 25, 2026, that Microsoft had said the Windows 11 26H2 rollout reached full availability for eligible 24H2 and 25H2 PCs a few days earlier. Microsoft’s September 29 guidance described an initial controlled rollout, and compatibility safeguards could delay the update offer on some devices.

What the reported milestone says

The English-language Tech Based video discusses the reported rollout milestone and shows the Windows Update path for checking 26H2.

The reported milestone applies to eligible devices running Windows 11 24H2 or 25H2. Neowin did not give the exact day of the reported change. Separately, Tech Based said Microsoft announced general availability on October 21 in an English-language video published October 23.

Who is eligible, and how to check

Microsoft’s September 29 announcement identifies eligible PCs running Windows 11 24H2 or 25H2 as the upgrade baseline. To check for 26H2, open Settings > Windows Update, turn on “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available,” and check for updates, following Microsoft’s instructions.

For many eligible PCs, 26H2 arrives as an enablement package, a small update that activates components already present on the shared servicing foundation. Installing it requires a restart rather than a traditional full operating-system upgrade. For the separate comparison of 25H2 and 26H2 support dates and changes, see our earlier Windows 11 coverage.

Why Windows Update may not offer it

Microsoft said it could place a compatibility safeguard hold on a device when a known issue might affect the update experience. So running 24H2 or 25H2 does not by itself guarantee that Windows Update will offer 26H2 immediately.

Guidance for organizations

Microsoft says commercial and education customers can use their existing management tools, update rings, policies, and deployment practices. Before a broad deployment, it recommends targeted validation of applications, devices, and business-critical workflows.
