With October 5 confirmed as the official launch date, Windows 11 is approaching at full speed, and many developers are looking to get ahead with new tools and applications for what will be endless tweaking and maintenance sessions. If you're thinking about customizing and optimizing Windows 11 once it reaches your PC, you might want to take a look at Windows 11 Manager, with dozens of options to clean, speed up, and modify certain aspects of the operating system.
New Windows, same dance. Microsoft confirmed it's willing to die on its hill before modifying Windows 11 requirements, but the conflict is far from over. Many users out there will try to install the OS even if their PCs don't have Redmond's blessing, and above all, they will seek to bend it to their will.
That translates into a new wave of programs, old and new, aimed at customizing and optimizing Windows 11. How to customize and optimize Windows 11 with Windows 11 Manager
The program is divided into seven categories, but in practice we're interested in the central five:
Optimizer lets us manage the programs that start with Windows, explore boot configuration (useful for dual boot), modify the behavior of services (basically an alternative to services.msc) and scheduled tasks, and apply classic speed tweaks like early process termination.
Cleaner includes a disk analyzer, two uninstallers (one compatible with Windows apps), three cleaners for the desktop, temporary files, and the component store (WinSxS and other modules), and two tools to clean and defragment the Registry. The disk analyzer is a bit slow, and I recommend using alternatives like WizTree first. On the other hand, the Registry resources turned out not to be so useful.
Customization enables elements like a visual customizer to change colors, fonts, and icons. The hotkey manager helps us modify keyboard shortcuts, and the Win+X menu editor does exactly what it describes. The most interesting resource here is the context menu manager, with the ability to add and remove items. Finally, Security and Network lets us encrypt files, limit access to devices and programs, block advanced elements (for example, the Registry editor), configure multiple IP values and switch between them, manage WiFi, and edit the HOSTS file.
Windows 11 Manager is a young program. It still needs a bit more cohesion in its options, because it gives the feeling of trying to do too much at once. Its creator plans to continue developing this tool as shareware, but we haven't detected any major limitations so far. Download a copy and give it a try.
