Looking out the window is a classic, simple distraction. Why not share it? I mean creating a short video and showing the world what we can see from our position, or alternatively, enjoying other windows located around the globe, discovering new regions with each click. WindowSwap is a platform that lets us do both easily, for free and without extra cost.
One of the first things the Greek-letter-obsessed bug took from us was the ability to travel, regardless of distance. However, that never affected our desire to explore and learn about new regions. Technology responded with video calls, streaming, and webcams everywhere. They are inferior substitutes for the airs and colors of other regions, but not without value.
This situation also enabled the development of new platforms, and one of the most interesting is WindowSwap. Created by Sonali Ranjit and Vaishnav Balasubramaniam, WindowSwap took its first steps during Singapore's lockdown, and today it is emerging as one of the simplest ways to travel the world, one window at a time.

If you want to start your journey, it's enough to click the "Open a new window" button for the site to take you to a random window. What you're seeing is not real-time feeds, but recordings with an average duration of ten minutes. If you want to share your own window, you'll need to create an account on WindowSwap and upload a video of similar length. The higher the filming quality, the better.
At first, the idea is to let the rest of the world see everything your window has to offer, but WindowSwap supports a tip jar, so the best content creators can receive something extra in exchange for their recording. Other features let us share our favorite windows on social networks, save them as favorites, and locate them on Google Maps (these last two options require an account).
Finally, it's worth noting that the free edition of WindowSwap blocks access to some windows. To access the entire catalog, we can activate All-Access mode by paying 20 dollars a year, but the free offer is an excellent starting point, and we definitely recommend it.
