Generally, the work of cables, chargers, and adapters is kept separate by design, but many users do not find this separation convenient. Computers and phones have absorbed functions of other devices over time, and the WonderCube will try to do something similar by integrating a sync cable, emergency charger, a microSD adapter, a flashlight, and a smartphone support in just 16 cubic centimeters.
The relationship between users and their mobile devices is more tense than it appears. At first, when the device has that “new smell” and comes out of the box in all its splendor, the situation is perfect. But it only takes a few months for the feeling to change. Charging their batteries every day, using adapters to transfer files to the memory card, looking for the original cable to sync contacts… maintenance increases and portability is lost, as the user is forced to carry more and more complementary accessories. People still ask me about the emergency charger I carry, and about the extended battery in my smartphone. Both are resources that are already available to almost everyone, but I imagine they don’t find it so convenient. Perhaps what is needed is a product with more integrated functions, and that is when the WonderCube appears.
In a volume of 16 cubic centimeters, the creators of the WonderCube seek to offer a charger compatible with any USB port, an emergency charger that accepts 9-volt batteries, a cable with synchronization and OTG support (in Android devices), a microSD card reader, an LED flashlight, and a series of micro-suction cups on its surface that allow the WonderCube to stick to the back of the smartphone, thus assuming the role of a support. Its final size will allow us to carry it like a keychain, and there will be two versions, one with a conventional micro USB port, and the other with an Apple Lightning interface.
As for its market release, we will have to wait a little longer. WonderCube will have its official debut on Kickstarter on the upcoming March 9, where we will see several discounts, exclusive colors, and additional offers. I believe the key to the WonderCube’s success is its price. The idea of integrating all those functions into a single accessory is excellent, but it needs to be economically friendly.
