Xender: Faster and Easier Mobile Transfers
Xender

Transferring files between mobile devices should be a simple process, but reality tells us otherwise. The same happens when sending files from a smartphone to the computer and vice versa. Over time, several applications have emerged to fill this void, and one particularly attractive one is Xender, compatible with Android, iOS, and Windows Phone.

The Challenge of Transferring Files

I want to download a couple of photos from my smartphone to the computer. I connect the USB cable, and the system asks for drivers. As an alternative I run AirDroid, but the smartphone's WiFi decides to hang at the last second. I remove the microSD card to read the content directly... and the adapter is nowhere to be found. There are times when bad luck simply haunts me, but this whole situation exposes an undeniable truth about mobile devices: It's complicated to get files out of them. The developers of the operating systems have done everything possible to improve the synchronization and cloud storage process, but it's not enough. Our probability of success will be greater if we rely on an external application, and that's how we come across Xender.

Key Features of Xender

One of Xender's most important features is that it allows phone-to-phone transfer. To do this, one smartphone creates a special group, while the rest of the users connect to that new group without the need for USB cables or internet access. The developers of Xender found a way to enable cross-platform transfers, meaning that Android and iOS users can send files to each other. When copying files to a computer, Xender doesn't require any additional client because it works on a web browser. Fortunately, this transfer mode also doesn't require web access: sharing the same WiFi network is enough.

Compatibility and Competition

From a certain point of view, Xender is shaping up as a serious competitor to AirDroid and similar applications. Xender's minimum compatibility is iOS 7.0 and Android 2.3. On the official page, you can also find a link for the Windows Phone version, but if we heed user feedback, that build needs a bit more work in the medium term.
