Which of the two is the better buy
The Xiaomi Redmi 15a is the better fit for performance and 5G, while the Redmi 17 4G makes the stronger case for battery capacity, faster charging, and its higher-resolution main camera. Their overall scores are even, so the choice comes down to those priorities.
The 15a leads on performance: its Unisoc T8300 outperforms the MediaTek Helio G91 Ultra in the tests, and UFS 2.2 storage is faster than the 17 4G's eMMC 5.1. It's also lighter and thinner at 210 g and 8.2 mm versus 232 g and 8.8 mm. The 15a also supports 5G; the 17 4G does not.
