Xiaomi shows its foldable phone prototype

Some manufacturers shared prototypes at CES 2019 or declared their intention to launch them, but today the web is talking about Xiaomi's version, which folds at two points and is almost a tablet when extended.

The row of small rectangles on the shelves is monotonous and boring. Sellers do everything they can to convince the occasional visitor that they need a new one because the one in their pocket "is a dinosaur", but the feeling that they are all the same never goes away. Smartphones have entered a comfort zone. Too much comfort. Some have as much hardware as a desktop computer, and others are essentially tablets due to their screen size. However, people are waiting for something new, and not a few believe that that "something" is the foldable phone. The big question is: who will strike first?

After watching this video, maybe it's Xiaomi. The "Chinese Apple" is not free from controversy, but at the same time it keeps moving devices and accessories in the market. The short was extracted from Weibo (hence its low quality), appeared on YouTube last week, and already has almost a million views just on this copy. As expected, the company shared nothing in terms of specifications beyond the two-point fold and the use of Android as the operating system, but president Lin Bin confirmed that it is "an engineering sample", which demonstrates "the conquest of several technical problems". The screen and flexible casing, the hinges, and the adaptability of the MIUI interface are part of that conquest.
