The Xiaomi Redmi 12 suits buyers who want a large display, NFC, dual SIM and a 5,000 mAh battery in a straightforward phone. Its main trade-off is performance: the MediaTek Helio G88 and 249,400 AnTuTu score are worse than most phones of its time.
The body is 8.2 mm thick, while the 6.79-inch screen provides 1080 × 2460 px and 396 ppi. Its LTPS LCD panel runs at 90 Hz, but both that refresh rate and its 550-nit brightness are worse than most phones launched around the same time. IP53 resistance covers dust and splashes. This version has 128 GB of storage with expansion available; the Redmi 12 is also sold with up to 8 GB / 256 GB.
The 50MP rear main camera has an f/1.8 aperture and records 2K video at 30 fps, but its 1/2.76-inch sensor is smaller than most and it has no optical image stabilization. The battery supports 18W charging and reverse charging, although 18W is worse than most phones of its time. Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, GPS and dual SIM make the core connections useful.
