Xodus Nexus released v0.3.9 on October 20, 2026, with changes focused on Microsoft sign-in, system keyrings, library loading, and installation reliability. The independent Linux launcher runs supported Microsoft Store PC games locally, while Steam Deck support remains experimental.

What changed in v0.3.9

The v0.3.9 release notes focus on reliability-related changes. The previous version, v0.3.8, was released on October 19, 2026. It added game pages and, when available for an account and title, Xbox achievements, playtime, and last activity, along with improved controller navigation.

Local PC games, not cloud streaming

Xodus Nexus downloads and launches supported Microsoft Store PC games on the Linux device through compatibility software. It is an unofficial project, not Microsoft’s Xbox app or a cloud-streaming client. A Microsoft account and a valid purchase or subscription are required for each game; a subscription grants access only to titles it includes.

Local installation does not guarantee that every game can be played offline. The project’s compatibility list includes title-specific online-play notes as well as playable, partial, failed, and unverified results.

Steam Deck support remains experimental

Deck Wizard’s walkthrough shows Xodus Nexus v0.3.8 on a Steam Deck OLED running SteamOS 3.8.28; the video predates v0.3.9.

Xodus Nexus describes Steam Deck and similar handheld support as experimental. Its release notes say testing used virtualized SteamOS and did not fully verify behavior on real handheld hardware. The compatibility list is based on manual tests and user reports, and results can change with game, backend, and runtime updates. For example, it marks Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 as partial and reports that ARC Raiders could not connect to online services.

Setup requirements that affect Gaming Mode

The project’s SteamOS setup guide specifies an x86_64 Linux AppImage and an enabled, unlocked system keyring. It recommends completing KDE Wallet setup in Desktop Mode before using Gaming Mode, where password prompts may not be visible.

Adding Xodus Nexus or individual games as Steam shortcuts requires native Linux Steam; Flatpak Steam is not supported. Some sign-in windows and system dialogs may also need mouse or touch input. If passkey sign-in stalls, the guide points to “Continue in browser” with Google Chrome.
