De Huawei nova 6 SE past bij wie een uitgebalanceerde Android-telefoon zoekt met veel geheugen en snel opladen. Het belangrijkste nadeel is het ontbreken van Google Services, wat zwaar weegt voor wie Google-apps en -diensten gebruikt.
Het 6,4-inch IPS LCD-scherm heeft 1080 × 2310 px en 398 ppi. De 8 GB RAM is meer dan bij de meeste telefoons uit zijn tijd. De opslag van 128 GB is uitbreidbaar, zodat er ruimte blijft voor apps en bestanden. De batterij van 4200 mAh is gebruikelijk voor zijn tijd, maar 40W-laden is krachtiger dan bij de meeste telefoons uit dezelfde periode.
