The Star Wars franchise has spawned more than a hundred games, spanning from classic consoles to current platforms. Some games are directly based on the movie material, while others draw heavily from the expanded universe of Star Wars. Unfortunately, after Disney's purchase of LucasArt, many games in development were cancelled, such as The Force Unleashed III and Star Wars 1313. The last released games, Star Wars Battlefront (2015) and Star Wars Battlefront II (2017), are a reboot of the Battlefront series for the current generation that once again use the settings and characters of the two trilogies as well as the new films, The Force Awakens and Rogue One.
