Anthropic and the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announced expanded OneGov terms on October 27, 2026, offering government buyers 40% off token-based Claude usage. The agreement has no minimum order, and agencies pay for what they use.

What the OneGov discount covers

GSA says the discount applies to token-based usage across Claude models available to the government. Anthropic names Claude Enterprise, Claude for Government, and the Claude API. The offer is based on consumption, not a flat fee per user.

GSA lists federal executive, legislative, and judicial buyers, along with state, local, and tribal governments. Anthropic’s announcement also names territorial governments.

How agencies can buy

Anthropic said agencies could purchase directly through the GSA Multiple Award Schedule and that direct purchases were available. The company said purchases through cloud providers were expected in the coming months. GSA also lists resellers and major cloud platforms as ordering routes.

Why 40% off does not set an agency’s bill

A percentage discount on token usage does not determine a fixed per-user price. An agency’s total depends on its applicable token rates and how many tokens it uses. To estimate a bill, it needs both figures, as well as an estimate of expected consumption.

Anthropic estimates the agreement’s discounts will save the government $1 billion. That is the company’s savings estimate. It also reports that about 500 U.S. federal, state, and local government organizations use Claude.

Anthropic’s security descriptions vary by product

Anthropic said Claude for Government became generally available on September 30, 2026, with FedRAMP High authorization. The company also described Claude through Amazon Bedrock and Google Cloud Vertex AI as FedRAMP High authorized. It said select Claude models on Amazon Bedrock were authorized for DoD IL4 and IL5 workloads in AWS GovCloud.

Anthropic described Claude Enterprise as pursuing FedRAMP Moderate authorization through FedRAMP 20x. These security descriptions apply to the specific products and cloud channels the company named.
