Anthropic announced Claude Frontier Academy on October 2, 2026, with a $100 million investment commitment and a goal of training 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers by the end of 2027. Its first program is a hands-on path for engineers working on Claude deployments at their own organizations—not a completed training result or a self-paced course.
A four-day intensive followed by a 12-week residency
The Academy’s first program, the Frontier Deployed Engineer Residency, begins with a four-day intensive. Participants spend three days building a Claude system for a simulated enterprise, then complete a graded practical on a new scenario.
Those who pass the intensive assessment earn the Claude Resident Engineer badge. They then spend 12 weeks leading a Claude deployment or use case at their organization, with mentorship from their cohort and support from Anthropic engineers. A final practical assessment follows the residency.
Who the Academy is for—and how organizations nominate engineers
Anthropic describes the intended participants as hands-on software engineers with strong fundamentals, experience building with large language models (LLMs), and a track record of helping others adopt AI. Previous experience building AI agents is not required.
Participation is by organizational nomination. Organizations can ask their Anthropic account team or Partner Account Manager about eligibility. Anthropic named Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley, and Novo Nordisk among the organizations represented in the first cohorts. The announced cohort locations are San Francisco, New York, and London.
The first final credentials are expected in early 2027
Participants who pass the final practical assessment can earn the Claude Frontier Deployed Engineer badge. Anthropic expected the first of these final credentials in early 2027.
