We suppose "hacker-proof" might sound a bit exaggerated, but that's how the small program Anti-Hacker presents itself, having just reached version 12.0. What exactly does it do? It automatically applies settings to User Account Control, analyzes traces in temporary folders that could harm our privacy, studies outgoing connections along with firewall exceptions, and offers an "anti-keylogger" in case we need to enter information on a compromised system.
We said it several times, and I think it's a good time to repeat it: Malware only needs to be lucky once. I also like to add another classic expression, "paranoia works", since some horror stories are too important to ignore. The user is the first and last line of defense in computer security, but unfortunately they are the ones who often fail the most. At this point, veteran Linux riders recommend adopting the penguin and thus obtaining superior security parameters, however, beyond their solid arguments (a high percentage of malware does not affect Linux due to design issues), it's not a commitment most users are willing to accept, and they prefer to continue on the path of "securing Windows" as best as possible.
That path leads to tools like Anti-Hacker, which on one hand make adjustments to the factory configuration that comes with Windows, and on the other, suggest more robust security solutions. In the specific case of Anti-Hacker, its initial recommendation is to replace the integrated firewall with PrivateFirewall, but that's not all. It also raises the User Account Control function to its maximum parameter, analyzes active connections with the help of TCPView (which is part of the famous Windows Sysinternals package), cleans temporary files that could compromise user privacy (mostly cookies), and delivers an "anti-keylogger", very useful to carry on a USB drive and use when there is suspicion that the keyboard "could" be monitored by a background process.
Version 12.0 of Anti-Hacker is distributed in a compressed file whose password is simply "password", and this is because its executable often falls into the territory of false positives. The main distributor on the Web is the well-known Majorgeeks portal (link below), and it does not come with any adware or donation requests. Anti-Hacker may not be the super-shield it claims to be, but it fulfills its basic functions without issues.
